Things to do

One of my first adventures when visiting my Grandmother in George was boarding the Outeniqua choo-tjoe… unfortunately the steam train no longer runs due to damages on the route caused by floods in June 2006. We keep on hoping that she”ll blow her whistle once again….
News updates here.

But here are good alternative rail adventures to view the garden of Eden from a different perspective:

The Outeniqua Power Van: A 2h 30 min trip up the Outenqua mountains in a trem. Pack your own picnic basket and enjoy amazing views. Departure from George, Outeniqua Railway museum. Go earlier stroll through the museum.

The Diaz Express: Meander along the coast with Tom, Dick and Harry (the blue tram-like carts) and enjoy a lunch at the turnaround point. Departure from Mossel Bay. View their website for bookings and more info.

Enjoy one of the harbor experiences in Mossel Bay. Deep sea fishing, view sharks while parasailing and the Freaking Fast Wave Raider to name a view. Get more information from the Mossel Bay Tourism website or contact them directly.

There is no better way to experience the area than one step at a time.

Point of human origins walk – 175 steps to 162 000 years of history, Pinnacle Point, Mossel Bay.

The St. Blaize trail , 13.5km, approx 6h (or shorter, various exits)  Mossel Bay, Point.
